Where every pair of skis takes shape.
Against the wall, wooden planks stand upright. All around, sheets of aluminum and rolls of fiber lie directly on the floor. In the center, a machine the size of a block transforms the design into material. The smell of resin precedes everything else. The prototypes are lined up, each one an intuition, a hypothesis, a sensation that we take out onto the snow. This is where every ZAG ski takes shape, within reach of the north faces, before hitting the mountain.
Mohair, nylon, or a blend: Which fabric should you choose?
Mohair, made from Angora goat hair, offers the best balance between glide and grip and performs exceptionally well on cold snow, but it wears out faster. Nylon is very durable and provides good grip in wet conditions, though at the expense of glide. The blend is the industry standard—and the choice for the ZAG line, which consists of 70% mohair and 30% nylon.
Pro or Classic Skins?
The Pro, in white, is the performance model: it offers the best glide in its class on mixed skins, industry-leading anti-clumping treatment, and high durability. Designed for regular skiers and challenging outings. The Classic, in black, is the reliable entry-level model: it features the same velvet as the Pro, but with a simplified adhesive and membrane system. For the occasional skier who wants a sturdy product without overspending.
What width of leather should I use for my UBAC?
ZAG skins are available in 89, 95, 102, and 110 mm, pre-cut to fit each UBAC model. Choose the width that matches your ski's base.
How do I store my ZAG skins?
Let them dry at room temperature, with the adhesive exposed to the air. Unlike most skins on the market, ZAG adhesive allows you to fold them directly, skin-to-skin, without a protective mesh. Store them flat or hung up in a dry, temperate place.
