Touring Skis

Touring Skis

Designed to take on the road.

After a two-hour climb, with your climbing skins removed, all that’s left is your breath. You stop and look back. No one’s there. We design these skis to be light enough to carry you this far, yet sturdy enough for the descent. This is the land that begins where the lifts end.

Light, so far away.

Lightweight enough to take anywhere.

Every gram is weighed, debated, added, or removed. In the Shape series, we break down these decisions. How does a ski from Touring stay light enough for a full day on the slopes and still perform well on the descent? What we remove, and what we preserve.

Listen to the shapers

Made for the great outdoors.

Touring ’s skis are your key to the entire mountain—the part that begins far from the lifts. Far from the crowds, the noise fades away, the air grows thin, and the landscape opens up until all that’s left is you and the sky. We craft these skis to devour distance while still holding a solid edge on a virgin slope. Weight matters, but only because lighter means farther, higher, and deeper into terrain that no one else skis. What you find here takes you where you want to go and brings you back to that profound silence that makes you want to set out again.

For over 20 years, ZAG has been designing Touring skis, developed in Chamonix in collaboration with high-mountain guides. Our UBAC line embodies the best of our expertise: skis that are lightweight on the ascent, high-performance on the descent, and suited to all types of skiers. Whether you’re new to Touring a seasoned veteran, the UBAC is your companion on any terrain.

Why is choosing the right skis so important for Touring

Unlike classic alpine skiing, Touring skiing involves climbing on your own. This makes weight a fundamental criterion. But reducing weight from equipment doesn't have to sacrifice stability, skiability or safety on challenging terrain.

A good touring ski must :

  • be lightweight for climbing efficiency,
  • easily lift off in powder snow
  • provide good traction on hard snow
  • stay comfortable on the descent regardless of snow conditions,
  • be versatile, because you never know what kind of snow you'll encounter.

The right choice for your activity and skill level

You wouldn’t choose the same Touring ski Touring a 600-meter climb as you would for a three-day alpine traverse.
Some skiers prioritize performance on the ascent, while others focus on the joy of the descent; some want a versatile ski, while others prefer a specialized one.

At ZAG, we cater to this diversity of profiles with a range designed to suit everyone—from the curious skier to the passionate expert.
