Size Guide for Touring Skis
Our tips
How do you choose the right length for your Touring skis?
If you're wondering how to choose the right Touring skis, you've come to the right place!
This size guide is intended as a reference based on the specifications of our models. The size you choose may, of course, vary depending on your preferences, skill level, and skiing style.
This guide is divided into two sections:
- See the table below
- Don't forget to read the pro's advice before making your final decision
Can't make up your mind? Check out the expert tips below to help you decide.
Here is an example:
- How tall are you? (For example, 173 cm)
- Select your level: for example, Advanced
- Choose your favorite ski series and model: for example, the UBAC 95
- Find the box in the table that applies to you
Calculate:
[Your height] + [Level] = lengths of the suggested model.
Example:
173 + [-5cm, +2cm] = [168, 175] cm
Two sizes might be right for you: 170cm and 174cm
THESE GUIDELINES ARE GENERAL. OFTEN, IT'S NOT JUST A MATTER OF A FEW CENTIMETERS. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE EXPERT'S ADVICE BELOW IF YOU'RE UNSURE WHICH SIZE TO CHOOSE.
Tips from the pros
For cross-country skiers, the goal is to choose a ski that’s roughly your height. Possibly a little smaller if you’re looking for maneuverability on the descent and ease in turns, or at least your height—or even a little larger—if you’re looking for stability at high speeds. This line of skis is a must-have for Touring freerando, offering an exceptional balance of weight and performance, endorsed by Chamonix guides.
These skis are perfect for anyone looking for a pair of Touring skis that can handle any terrain and weather conditions, whether for day trips or multi-day excursions!
UBAC 89
This is the ski with the least rocker in the UBAC line. If you’re torn between two sizes, go ahead and choose the smaller one.
UBAC 95
Due to its double rocker, we recommend choosing this ski in your regular size whenever possible. If you have to choose, a smaller size offers excellent maneuverability, while a larger size provides better performance at high speeds.
UBAC 102
The Ubac 102 is the highest-performance model in the lineup. If you have to choose between two sizes and have the technical skills to handle it, don’t hesitate to go with the larger one.
UBAC 108
Because of its large double rockers, don’t hesitate to go for a slightly larger size if you’re torn between two sizes.
SLAP 104 LITE
This model is primarily designed for freerando. If you have to choose between two sizes, go with the larger one.
GOOD TO KNOW
01
The size of a ski should be chosen based on your body type, skill level, goals, and how you plan to use them.
02
The larger the ski, the more stable it is at high speeds. It will also perform better in deep snow but be harder to handle (so it requires good technical and physical skills). The smaller the ski, the more maneuverable and easier it is to ski, but it will be less stable at high speeds and less balanced in deep snow.
03
For women’s models, please note that the only difference between a men’s model and a women’s model of the same size is the design: the ski’s top sheet (graphic). The shape and construction are the same. If a women’s model is not available in your size, you are welcome to choose a men’s model.
