How to Choose Freeride and All-Mountain Skis
If you're wondering what size freeride skis to get, you've come to the right place!
This size guide is intended as a general reference based on the specifications of our models. The size you choose may, of course, vary depending on your preferences, skill level, and skiing style.
This guide is divided into two sections
1. See the table below
2. Be sure to read the expert’s advice before making your final decision
Can't make up your mind? Check out the expert's advice to help you decide.
Here is an example:
- How tall are you? (For example, 173 cm)
- Select your level: for example, Advanced
- Choose your favorite ski series and model: for example, the Slap 112
- Find the box in the table that applies to you
Calculate:
[Your height] + [Level] = lengths of the suggested model.
Example:
173 + [-2cm, +8cm] = [171, 181] cm
Two sizes might be right for you: 170cm and 176cm
THESE GUIDELINES ARE GENERAL. OFTEN, IT'S NOT JUST A MATTER OF A FEW CENTIMETERS. BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE EXPERT'S ADVICE BELOW IF YOU'RE UNSURE WHICH SIZE TO CHOOSE.
PRO TIPS: SLAP LINE
For freeriders, the key isto choose a ski that’s roughly your height (longer if you’re looking for stability, or your height if you’re looking for maneuverability).
Please note: The SLAP series features a twin-tip design and pronounced double rockers; we do not recommend choosing a size smaller than your usual size for advanced and expert riders.
These are wide, playful skis designed for all freeriders looking for untouched powder. The SLAP line also offers plenty of fun on the slopes thanks to its versatile 104mm and 112mm models!
SLAP 104 Lite
Touring are Touring-oriented skis, so you should opt for your usual size or even a slightly larger one.
PRO TIPS: MATA LINE
MATA Ti - MATA Renault
This ski will be even more playful if you choose a length a few centimeters shorter than your height. Some people like to ride it on the slopes even 10 cm shorter, but for a more versatile experience, stick to 5 cm shorter and no more than the skier’s height.
GOOD TO KNOW
01
The size of a ski should be chosen based on your body type, skill level, goals, and how you plan to use them.
02
A twin-tip ski (SLAP series) will always be more maneuverable than a flat-tail ski.
03
The wider the ski, the more stable it is at high speeds. It will also perform better in deep snow but be harder to handle (so it requires good technical and physical skills).
04
The smaller the ski, the more maneuverable and easier it is to ski, but it will have less stability at high speeds and will be less stable in deep snow.

For women’s models, please note that the only difference between a men’s model and a women’s model of the same size is the design: the ski’s top sheet (graphic). The shape and construction are the same. If a women’s model is not available in your size, you are welcome to choose a men’s model.
