MATA

Ti

The shape

Quick underfoot, steady at the tips.

The Mata features a short radius under the base to initiate the turn from the very first contact. Its shape widens at the tip and tail to smooth out the terrain without catching in rough snow. Its construction combines titanal—which locks in edge grip on ice—with rubber that absorbs vibrations. It delivers a responsive kick under powerful pressure and a smooth transition from one edge to the other.

The ski

The resort is its playground.

This is the perfect ski for stringing together runs at the resort. On the smooth, fresh morning snow, it grips the edge and carves precise turns. In the afternoon on busy slopes, its short turning radius lets it weave through crowds with ease and respond to every change in terrain. Its 90 mm waist width provides the necessary float at the edge of the piste while maintaining excellent grip on hard snow. For the resort, it’s the ideal choice.

Shaper's Note

The turn was the whole point.

We wanted to create a ski capable of returning more energy than you put into it. We combined a short radius with a Titanal reinforcement, then tested numerous prototypes in Chamonix to find the perfect rebound. A flex that was too stiff tired the skier out, and a flex that was too soft lost its power. The rubber provides the ideal finish, maintaining consistent responsiveness without tiring the legs.

Construction

Heavy Duty Ti:
We’ve added Titanal (Ti) to our Heavy Duty construction to enhance the ski’s grip and energy return. This construction is perfect for precise carving. The dual layer of multiaxial fiberglass and the rubber insert make the ski comfortable in all conditions.

Semi-Cap:
Our SEMI-CAP sandwich construction ensures optimal power transfer throughout the ski and provides the skier with all the grip needed on the hardest snow. The skis’ durability is also enhanced by ABS sidewalls (increased resistance to cold and impact).

Rockers & Camber

"10%" Tip Rocker
"10%" Tail Rocker

Moderate camber

Shape

Multi-radius shape:
A ski design method that allows the radii to vary across several independent zones (front, middle, rear). This enables a very short radius underfoot (for increased maneuverability) while maintaining forgiving tips in difficult snow conditions.

Flex

Stiffness:
4/5

Torsional stiffness:
The Titanal plate provides excellent stiffness and responsiveness under torsion

Who is the MATA designed for?

For the all-mountain skier who wants fun, powerful carving with enough width to never feel restricted when snow conditions change. The one ski you’ll want for the vast majority of days.

Why an asymmetrical design?

For a design that stands out in line for the ski lifts ;)

Does the MATA have a left ski and a right ski?

There's no such thing as a left or right ski—even though the design is asymmetrical, the shape itself isn't. You can switch them around, although it looks better with the tips pointing inward.

Which MATA size should you choose?

The MATA is available in lengths of 154, 160, 167, 173, 178, and 183 cm. For responsiveness and tight turns, choose your usual length or 5 cm shorter; for stability at high speeds, choose your usual length or 5 cm longer.

What are the dimensions and radius of the MATA?

The MATA Ti measures between 85 and 90 mm, depending on the size. The dimensions range from 128 × 85 × 106 mm for the 154 cm size to 143 × 90 × 120 mm for the 183 cm size, with a radius ranging from 13.4 to 14.7 m. Detailed measurements by size are listed in the table on the product page.

How much does the MATA weigh?

The MATA weighs 1.6 kg at 154 cm and up to 2.08 kg at 183 cm

What is MATA's profile?

Medium camber, stiff torsion, stiff flex, short turn radius.

Which " Bindings " should be installed on the MATA?

The MATA is compatible with the following alpin Binding : Salomon Strive 10, Salomon Strive 12 GW (DIN 4-12), Strive 14 MN (DIN 5-14), or Strive 16 MN (DIN 7-16)

Is the installation of the Bindings s included with the MATA?

Yes, assembly is included if you purchase Bindings at the same time as your skis and provide us with the necessary assembly information (boot shell length in mm / skier's weight / skier's skill level / skier's age).

What is Heavy Duty Ti construction?

A heavy-duty construction to which ZAG has added a Titanal plate to enhance the ski’s grip and energy return. This is what makes the MATA Ti ideal for precise carving.

Is MATA accessible?

More than just the AROC. Its moderate camber and medium flex make it less demanding when entering a turn and more playful when exiting. But the titanal makes its presence known as soon as you apply pressure: the ski picks up speed.
