touring ski size guide

Our advice

How do I choose the right size for my touring skis?

If you're wondering how to choose the right touring skis, you've come to the right place!

This size guide is intended as a guide only, based on the characteristics of our models. The size you choose may vary according to your desires, your level and your skiing.

This guide is organized in 2 parts:

  • See the table below
  • Don't forget to read the pro tip to make your final choice

Can't decide? Refer to the pro tips below to make your choice.

Here's an example:

  • What is your height: for example, 173 cm
  • Define your level: for example, Advanced
  • Choose your preferred ski range and model: for example, the UBAC 95
  • Locate the box in the table that corresponds to you

Calculate:
[Your size] + [Level] = lengths of the proposed model.

Example:
173 + [-5cm, +2cm] = [168, 175] cm

Two sizes could fit you: 170cm and 174cm

Tips from the pro

For tourers , you'll need to choose a ski that's roughly your size. Possibly a little smaller if you're looking for maneuverability on the descent and ease of conversion, or at least the right size, or even a little bigger if you're looking for high-speed stability. This range of skis is a must-have for Touring and Freerando, offering an exceptional weight/performance compromise, approved by the Chamonix guides.

These skis are perfect for people who want a pair of all-weather Touring skis for day or multi-day outings!

UBAC 89
This is the ski with the smallest rocker in the UBAC range. If you're hesitating between two sizes, don't hesitate to choose the smaller one.

UBAC 95
Because of its double rocker, we advise you to choose your size whenever possible. If you have to choose, the smaller the size, the better the handling; the larger the size, the better the high-speed performance.

UBAC 102
The Ubac 102 is the most high-performance-oriented model in the range. If you have to choose between two sizes, and you've got enough technical baggage, don't hesitate to go for the larger one.

UBAC 108
With its big double rockers, don't hesitate to choose it a little larger if you're hesitating between two sizes.

SLAP 104 LITE
Model designed primarily for Freerando use. If you have to choose between two sizes, take the larger one.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

01

The size of a ski depends on your size, your level, your ambitions and your level of skiing.

02

The larger the ski, the more stable it is at high speeds. It will also perform better in deep snow, but will be more difficult to handle (requiring a good technical and physical background). The smaller the ski, the easier and more maneuverable it will be to ski, but it will not hold up as well at high speeds, and its balance will be more precarious in deep snow.

03

For LADY models, please note that the only difference between a men's model and a women's model of identical size is the design: top-sheet. Shape and construction are the same. If a LADY model doesn't exist in your size, you can always choose a men's model.
