UBAC

102

The shape

Grip you can lean on.

The Ubac 102 is built stiff and planted, with a wide section underfoot that puts a long, strong edge on the snow. On a firm, steep face that edge bites and stays, so a committed turn holds instead of sliding. The stiffer flex sends your input straight to the snow, rewarding a skier who drives the ski hard and precisely. It floats when the snow is deep, but its real gift shows up when the pitch steepens and the margin shrinks. Push on it and it pushes back, holding the line exactly where you set it.

The ski

For lines you can't afford to lose.

This is the ski for the descents that demand full attention. Steep couloirs where each turn has to hold on hard, wind-affected snow. Exposed faces where a washed edge is not an option. Long missions that end in a serious line down. It gives you stability and grip when the consequences are highest, with enough width to stay afloat on the approach and the powder in between. For easy-going all-day touring the 95 is friendlier. When the line gets steep and real, this is the one you want underfoot.

Shaper's Note

Built for high-consequence snow.

We shaped the Ubac 102 for the skier heading into serious terrain. The brief was trust. An edge that holds on the hardest steep snow, a platform wide enough to float the approach, a flex stiff enough to answer a strong, precise input instantly. We took it onto the steep faces of the massif and pushed until we knew exactly where it would hold and where it would let go. Too soft and it flexed out under pressure. We built it to stay planted when it matters most.

Construction

Light construction:
One goal: to provide skiers with a lightweight, comfortable ski for all snow conditions. This is achieved through a combination of fiberglass and carbon fibers, making the skis in the Freerando line twice as torsionally stiff. The paulownia wood core saves a few extra grams without compromising the ski’s feel on the snow or its long-term durability, as a foam core might. The ABS sidewalls and high-strength steel edges ensure this ski can withstand the bumps and impacts it may encounter throughout the winter. A construction that allows freerando skiers to ski in complete safety!

Semi-Cap:
Our SEMI-CAP sandwich construction ensures optimal power transfer throughout the ski and provides the skier with all the grip needed on the hardest snow. The skis’ durability is also extended thanks to the ABS sidewalls (increased resistance to cold and impacts).

Rockers & Camber

Tip Rocker “40%”
Tail Rocker “30%”

Low camber

Shape

Multi-radius shape:
A ski design method that allows the radii to vary across several independent zones (front, middle, rear). This enables a very short radius underfoot (for increased maneuverability) while maintaining forgiving tips in difficult snow conditions.

Flex

Stiffness:
5/5
Its flex and torsion stiffness ratio optimizes its high-speed performance in all snow conditions!

Who is the UBAC 102 designed for?

For the freerider making the switch to the “ Touring ” and the experienced skier looking to have some fun on the descent. The climb is the price you pay; what matters is the descent through snow that no one has touched.

Which size of UBAC 102 should I choose?

The UBAC 102 is available in 168, 175, 181, and 188 cm, in unisex sizes. For freerando, choose your usual size or go 5 cm larger for more lift and stability at higher speeds.

What are the dimensions and radius of the UBAC 102?

The UBAC 102 measures 102 mm at the base. Dimensions range from 136 × 102 × 121 mm for the 168 cm model to 139 × 102 × 124 mm for the 188 cm model, with a radius ranging from 18 to 21 m. Detailed measurements by size are listed in the table on the product page.

How much does the UBAC 102 weigh?

The UBAC 102 weighs between 1,420 g for the 168 cm length and 1,690 g for the 188 cm length, per ski.

What are the specifications of the UBAC 102?

Low camber, double rocker, stiff flex, medium turn radius.

Which " Bindings " should be installed on the UBAC 102?

The UBAC 102 is mounted using an insert- Binding : the FORGE[Pro] (DIN 3-11, brakes up to 108 mm) is the best choice for freerando use.

Are the Bindings s included with the UBAC 102?

Yes, assembly is included if you purchase Bindings at the same time as your skis and provide us with the necessary assembly information (boot shell length in mm / skier's weight / skier's skill level / skier's age).

What has changed compared to UBAC 89 and 95?

The profile. Low camber and a generous double rocker, whereas the 89 and 95 models feature medium camber and a slight double rocker. The ski is clearly geared toward downhill skiing: in powder and variable snow conditions, it offers a range of sensations that narrower skis simply can’t match.

Is the UBAC 102 still effective during the climb?

With a waist width exceeding 100 mm, the ski is often wider than a classic Touring track, so each step requires a little more effort. Weighing between 1,420 and 1,690 g per ski, this is a deliberate trade-off made in favor of downhill performance.

Which skin should I use for UBAC 102?

A 102 mm ZAG skin, available in Pro or Classic. Two lengths: M for sizes 168 and 175, L for sizes 181 and 188.
